Police beat Dec. 23
Aggravated assault charge: Corey Allen McCartney, 20, of 5 E. Circle St., Mather, was charged by Cumberland Township police with aggravated assault and burglary for allegedly entering a home and slashing a girl with a knife Tuesday afternoon. Police said McCartney entered the Crucible home of a female juvenile, who was alone in the house. McCartney allegedly cut the girl’s forearm with a folding pocket knife and threatened to kill her, the criminal complaint said. Police said the cut was two inches long. The girl told him to leave her house, but before he did, he told her, “I’ll be back for you,” the complaint said. Police said McCartney and the girl were in a relationship.
Assault charges: Zachary David McGinnis, 23, of 208 Shriver Hill Road, Mt. Morris, was charged by state police with simple assault and harassment for allegedly punching another man in the face about 10:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at Tommy Boy’s Tavern in Franklin Township. Police said that when McGinnis entered the bar that night, the alleged victim, Colton Ferrari, approached McGinnis to talk to him about deer season. Police said McGinnis then allegedly “sucker punched” Ferrari in the face multiple times, fracturing his nose and blackening his eye. Ferrari was treated at WHS-Greene hospital.
False identification charge: Justin Cheyenne Richter, 29, of 365 Browns Creek Road, Waynesburg, was charged by state police with false identification following a traffic stop Wednesday evening on Route 21 in Franklin Township. Police said that after pulling Richter over, he gave them a false identity because he was wanted on a bench warrant.
