Donora brothers arrested on warrants
Two Donora brothers wanted in Westmoreland County on outstanding warrants were arrested Friday when they tried to purchase guns at a sporting goods store.
Rolando Corbitt, 27, and Tyler Jordan Corbitt, 23, both of 1228 McKean Ave., were at Ace Sporting Goods, 462 Washington Road, about 5:30 p.m. with a third man. A store employee alerted police that there were two men in the store trying to buy guns.
Police said when they arrived, they could smell marijuana on the men and in the vehicle. Officers were given permission to search the vehicle, but found nothing. Tyler Corbitt had $2,545 on him while Rolando Corbitt had $750.
Police verified the two men were wanted on warrants and they were placed in Washington County Jail.
Rolando Corbitt was wanted on a warrant obtained by Monessen police on charges of simple assault, reckless endangerment and conspiracy stemming from an incident on June 17, 2011. He was initially arraigned before District Judge Larry Hopkins, who set bond at $100,000. He was arraigned Monday morning before District Judge Joseph Dalfonso and released on $10,000 unsecured bond. Tyler Corbitt was also arrested in the same incident but the charges were withdrawn at his preliminary hearing.
A bench warrant was issued for Tyler Corbitt in September after he failed to appear before Westmoreland County Judge Meagan Bilik-DeFazio for a contempt hearing. He pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless endangerment stemming from a 2010 incident in Monessen. He was transferred Monday to the Westmoreland County Jail.
The man who was with the Corbitts on Friday was released.
