Chamber of commerce announces scholarship
Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications from graduating seniors for its 26th annual scholarship that will be awarded in May.
In addition to the $1,500 scholarship, the winner will receive a laptop computer from PCsquared in Waynesburg.
The scholarship program is open to any Greene County student who will be a graduating senior in 2016.
The chamber is encouraging all high school seniors who have been accepted to a college or technical school as an incoming freshman this fall, and who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better while in high school, to apply for the scholarship.
Applicants will be required to write an essay and provide a listing of their school activities and local community involvement. Applications are available to be printed directly from the chamber’s website at www.waynesburgchamber.com
The applications must be completed and submitted to the chamber’s office at 143 E. High St. in Waynesburg by 4 p.m. Friday, April 15. The winner will be announced in early May and the scholarship award presented at the chamber’s monthly General Membership Luncheon May 25.
