Lions Club names student of month
Clarksville Lions Club has named Alexander Flenniken as its student of the month for January.
Flenniken, son of Bill and Lea Ann Flenniken of Rices Landing, maintains a 4.26 grade point average.
He is a four-year member of both the Science Olympiad and Envirothon, a two-year member of both the STEM team and the debate team, a six-year member of both the Academic Team and the marching band, a four-year member of county band, and a three-year member of both the National Honor Society and the Leo Club.
As a member of Boy Scout Troop 1168 for seven years, Flenniken is an Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project included installing more than 400 feet of wire over Pumpkin Run creek to provide power to a recently built pavilion in Pumpkin Run Park.
Flenniken is a fireman and emergency medical technician with the Rices Landing Volunteer Fire Department.
In the fall, Flenniken plans to attend Rochester Institute of Technology and major in physics with the intention of completing a doctoral program. He is the recipient of Rochester Institute of Technology’s Presidential Award.
