PITTSBURGH (AP) – A former inmate has filed a lawsuit against a fired Pittsburgh jail guard saying he repeatedly sexually assaulted her.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports the lawsuit filed Monday accuses Joshua Reber of assaulting the woman in her cell between February and July 2015. The suit states the 34-year-old Upper St. Clair man offered her extra privileges to extort sex acts from her.

Allegheny County police filed institutional sexual assault charges against Reber in December.

Reber is charged with institutional sexual assault because a prisoner cannot legally consent to have sex with a guard under Pennsylvania law.

He had worked for the Allegheny County Jail since 2007.

An Allegheny County spokeswoman says she doesn’t comment on pending litigation.

Reber’s attorney couldn’t be reached.
