PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say a burglar drilled a hole through the wall of a vacant building and into a neighboring Pittsburgh jewelry store to steal money and jewels out of a safe.

It happened Monday morning at Yuriy’s Jewelry Store.

A police spokeswoman says the suspect drilled a hole through the wall of the vacant building into the back of the store’s safe, which was then emptied.

Police are investigating to see if there’s surveillance footage that can provide any clues about the heist.

A store manager tells WPXI-TV the thieves broke through the sidewalk cellar doors at the vacant Smithfield Café before going through the basement to drill into the jewelry store.
