Peters Township police are investigating the death of a Lawrence man whose body was found floating facedown Monday in Chartiers Creek in McMurray.

Police found Roger J. D’Alessandro, 67, of 1108 Old Farm Road, dead at 11:24 a.m. Monday. Foul play is not suspected, police said.

According to Deputy Chief Douglas Grimes, D’Alessandro told his wife Saturday night that he planned to go fishing Sunday morning at Chartiers Creek. That was the last time she saw D’Alessandro. On Monday morning, when her husband was still not home, she called a friend who went to the spot – about 300 feet from Valley Brook Road – where D’Alessandro usually fished. The friend found his body floating in shallow water.

The cause of D’Alessandro’s death has not been determined, Grimes said. The body has been turned over to Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.
