Judge: Couple, environmentalists can sue over pipeline plan
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Two groups can continue legal efforts to try to prevent the use of eminent domain for a 300-mile pipeline project in Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports a judge in Philadelphia found the Clean Air Council and a Delaware County couple can continue their lawsuit against Sunoco and other area residents can also sue.
The couple along with the environmental group sued Sunoco in August.
Sunoco had said they lacked standing and the Public Utility Commission should decide how the company can use landowners’ properties.
The company’s pipeline would transport Marcellus Shale natural gas liquids to Marcus Hook.
A Sunoco spokesman says no final decision has been made. The company is expected to appeal.
