Three men facing retail theft charges
Three men taken into custody late last week after South Strabane Township police were called to Tanger Outlets for a report of a retail theft now face charges.
Taken into custody Friday after it was determined they were wanted on outstanding warrants were Corey J. Talley, 38, of 675 Henderson Ave., Washington; Kevin R. Ledbetter, 29, of 464 E. Hallam Ave., Washington; and David T. West, 22, of 249 Latimer Ave., Strabane.
When police arrived, they spotted the men walking toward the parking lot. Police told them to stop and place their hands on the police cruiser. Police said Talley dropped a bag on the ground and removed a cap from his jacket, also tossing it on the ground.
As the two officers were taking West and Talley into custody, police said Ledbetter fled. He was taken into custody a short time later.
Police said they found items reported stolen from Direct Tools in the bag Talley tossed on the ground, and they believe the cap was stolen from Lids.
Talley, who was placed in Washington County jail on a bench warrant, was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of retail theft, conspiracy to commit theft and tampering with evidence. Bond was set at $5,000. Talley also was arraigned before Weller on a charge of retail theft for allegedly stealing a bottle of vodka from Wine and Spirits, Oak Spring Road, on Feb. 3. Bond was set at another $5,000. Talley also was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge Curtis Thompson on a charge of retail theft filed by state police after he allegedly stole items from Dollar General, Wilson Road, Bentleyville. Bond on those charges was $5,000.
Ledbetter, who is in Allegheny County jail on other charges, was charged by township police with flight to avoid apprehension, conspiracy to commit retail theft, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He will be arraigned before Weller later.
West was arraigned Tuesday before Weller on charges of conspiracy to commit retail theft, possession of paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Bond was set at $10,000. He also was arraigned on a retail theft charge filed by South Strabane police after he allegedly stole items from Home Depot. Bond was set at $10,000.
West was arraigned Friday before District Judge David Mark on a warrant obtained by North Strabane police, who accused him of stealing money in a Sept. 20 burglary at Super 8 Motel.
Township police also charged several others for retail theft earlier this week. Joanelle L. Cohen, 25, and Brittany Copechal, 31, both of 113 Maple Ave., Washington, and Kayla M. Wozolek, 24, of 28 W. Katherine Ave., Washington, were charged with retail theft and conspiracy after they allegedly stole items valued at $345 from Kohl’s on Sept. 29.
Lisa Kiskadden 45, of 798 Banetown Road, Amwell Township, was charged with retail theft for allegedly stealing items valued at $146 from Walmart, Trinity Point, on Saturday.
