Raid of city home nets drugs, one arrest
A Washington man faces drug charges after a late-night raid Friday by multiple law enforcement agencies.
Quentin Lamont Vaden, 32, of 140 Hart Ave., was placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond after a search warrant of his home allegedly yielded 785 stamp bags of heroin, four ounces of cocaine and more than $9,000.
“It was a joint federal and local operation,” said Washington County District Attorney Eugene A. Vittone. “You’re going to see more of that.”
The Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, Canonsburg police, state police, Washington police and Washington K-9 unit executed the warrant after an on-going investigation into heroin distribution in the county.
Vaden was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Vittone said more information will be available during a conference at 9 a.m. Tuesday at his office with U.S. Attorney David Hickton.
Hickton, who oversees 25 counties, announced at a news conference Feb. 3 federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents were working with local police to analyze data on a string of roughly 30 heroin overdoses early this month. He also discussed the FBI’s Fusion Center, where investigators have standardized evidence collection and trained police across the region on overdose protocol.
