Avella man cited in crash

An Avella man was cited for careless driving following a Saturday evening crash.

According to state police, Brad N. Shaffer, 22, was driving on Avella Road (Route 50) in Independence Township around 7 p.m. when he lost control on the snow-covered road, striking a tree and mailbox.

Shaffer and his two passengers were not injured in the crash.
