BURGETTSTOWN

Attempted warrant service: McDonald police went to a business Feb. 8 in an attempt to serve Roy C. Jones II, 31, of Aliquippa, with an arrest warrant on charges including aggravated and simple assault. Beaver police had indicated he would be at that location. After going to another location, police learned that he was driving on Route 18 into Hanover Township. Police said they looked for the vehicle and found it crashed near the entrance to Raccoon State Park in Beaver County. Police said Jones and a passenger tried to flee but were taken into custody. Suspected cocaine was found near Jones, who was later arraigned in Beaver County, police said.

CANONSBURG

Account compromised: Janis Cutright of Canonsburg told Canonsburg police Saturday that she learned an attempt was made to make a $1,000 purchase using her debit card. First Niagara Bank froze her account after the attempt.

CECIL

Handgun stolen: A handgun was stolen Friday from a vehicle belonging to John Johnston, 3272 Millers Run Road, Cecil. Police recovered the weapon at a nearby home.

Theft from vehicle: Police said two bank cards and $30 in cash were stolen Saturday from a vehicle belonging to Chris Toomey, 17 Wilson Ave., Cecil.

Theft from vehicle: A $60 vape pen, a GPS unit and about $5 in change were stolen Saturday from a vehicle belonging to Alexander Young of 3344 Millers Run Road, Cecil.

Pedestrian hit: Richard Welsh of 119 Locust St., Cecil, told police Sunday he was struck by a driver’s-side mirror on a newer, tan vehicle that was southbound on Route 980. Welsh told police the car did not stop. Police said Welsh complained of back pain and was taken by ambulance to UPMC-Mercy in Pittsburgh.

CHARTIERS

DUI alleged in crash: Jeremiah Lee Hadrych, 29, of Washington, faces a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol after he his vehicle went off North Johnson Road, went through a yard about 4:30 a.m. Sunday and got stuck on a retaining wall at 123 N. Johnson. He was taken to Canonsburg Hospital, where police said blood was drawn to determine his alcohol level.

McDONALD

Sign stolen: A member of the McDonald Public Works department told McDonald police Feb. 9 that a street sign was stolen from Center Avenue.

NORTH STRABANE

Assault arrest: Kerrie Lynn Kelly, 27, of 105 View Ave., was arrested early Saturday by North Strabane police on charges of simple assault and harassment for allegedly assaulting Michael F. Bruce II, 28, during a confrontation at their home. She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Soliciting charges: Tyler Scott Blackford, 23, of Tiffin, Ohio; Gary Wayne King, 22, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and Genesis Arnold Murphy, 34, of Toledo, Ohio, were charged by Friday North Strabane police with violating the township’s solicitation ordinance after police received complaints from residents of the Glencannon area that the three were going to homes offering “valuable engergy solutions” to customers interested in switching their gas providers. Neither they nor their employer, PA Gas and Electric, had permits to solicit. Police said Murphy was uncooperative, claiming that he was being kidnapped and wanted to speak to a supervisor. He was taken to the state police station to have his fingerprints scanned to determine his identity. Blackford also was cited by Washington police for soliciting without a license after police got a complaint from a resident of South Main Street on Sunday. He told city police he lived at a home on Sammy Angott Way in Washington.

Retail theft: Police said a man walked into the BP gas station, 801 East McMurray Road, on Feb. 13 and asked for a carton of cigarettes, He swiped his card, which turned out to be void, and left the store before the clerk could stop him.

Narcan resucitation: According to reports, a 29-year-old Venetia man in the 100 block of Scott Lane had overdosed on heroin Feb. 13. Medics Township VFW 764 were able to revive him with Narcan.

WASHINGTON

House damaged: A house in the 200 block of East Beau Street that is used to temporarily house homeless families was damaged by vandals Sunday, Washington police said. A door was damaged and window broken.

Televisions stolen: Jonay King of the 500 block of West Chestnut Street told Washington police Saturday that 55-inch and 32-inch televisions were stolen from her apartment.

Heroin charge: Jamar Comedy, 27, of 17 Locust St., Clarksville, will be charged by Washington police with possession of heroin after officers at Washington County jail said they found seven bags of heroin hidden in his groin after he was placed in the facility on a bench warrant Friday night.
