Police beat Feb. 17
Trespass charge: Khalir Blount-Hart, 21, of Philadelphia, was charged by California police with criminal trespass after he allegedly went to Vulcan Village Monday night. He was banned from the property by management. Police said he is accused of trying to squat at the facility.
Harassment charge: Joseph G. Willis, 61, of Donora, was charged Monday by California police with harassment for allegedly harassing a resident at 504 Green St. Police said it was the second time this month he was accused of harassing the same resident.
Warrant arrest: Michael R. Melnyk, 27, of Elm Street, Canonsburg, was arraigned Tuesday on a warrant obtained by Canonsburg police on charges of criminal trespass and theft after he allegedly stole a tent frame from behind the Canonsburg Borough garage on Hutchinson Avenue Sept. 2, 2014. When a street worker yelled, the man, later identified as Melnyk, dropped the frame and ran over a hill to the railroad tracks. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller, who set bond at $500. Melnyk is in Washington County jail on other charges.
Disorderly charge: John Bigler Phillips will be charged by state police with disorderly conduct after state police were called about noon Monday to his home at 427 Brad Ave., Canton, for a report of shots fired. Police said they arrived and learned he had been shooting pigeons with a B.B. gun.
Assault arrest: David Wayne McLuckie, 48, of 939 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Monday by Charleroi Regional police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly pushed his father, John McLuckie, causing him to hit his head on a door and fall to the floor, during a confrontation at 939 Lincoln Ave. David McLuckie was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released with orders to follow bail conditions.
One injured: Julia E. White, 20, of Brownsville, was injured Feb. 9 when her car spun around on Martindale Road, Deemston, and struck an oncoming state Department of Transportation plow truck operated by Susan Ottena, 56 of Marianna, state police said. White, who was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital for treatment, will be cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
Theft, trespass charges: Kathleen Dianne Wilkinson, 37, of 403 Pleasant Manor, Mt. Pleasant, was charged by Rostraver Township police with retail theft and criminal trespass stemming from a Feb. 6 incident at Walmart, 100 Sara Way. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joseph A. Dalfonso.
Underage drinking charges: Brett Thomas Lewis, 18, of 504 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon, was charged by Rostraver Township police with furnishing alcohol to minors and underage drinking after he allegedly took a bottle of vodka to Belle Vernon Area High School Feb. 11. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
Rig crashes: Manveer Singh, 32, of Bay Point, Calif., escaped injury in a crash about 12:45 a.m. Monday that closed Interstate 70 eastbound between the Ginger Hill and Bentleyville exits, Somerset, for about six hours. State police said he failed to negotiate a left turn and struck a concrete barrier on the right side. The highway was closed so crews from Weavertown Environmental could clean 150 gallons of spilled diesel fuel. Singh will be cited with failure to stay in his lane.
Theft arrest: Ashley M. Rager, 31, of Uniontown, was arrested Monday by South Strabane police, who charged her with theft by deception, conspiracy and receiving stolen property. She is accused of returning items stolen from Walmart, Trinity Point, in exchange for a gift card in November. The gift card was later canceled by the store. She was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Faces charges: Adam Keranko, 30, of Dividend Drive, South Franklin, faces charges after he was found passed out Monday in his running vehicle, which was in gear, on a sidewalk in the 800 block of Broad Street, Washington police said. While he was searching for his license, police said they saw what appeared to be a corner of a small plastic bag containing suspected heroin. Keranko was taken to Washington Hospital for chemical testing. While on his way for the blood draw, Keranko allegedly mumbled to an officer that he was under the influence of heroin, cocaine and marijuana.
