Richeyville man faces burglary, other charges
A Richeyville man was arrested early Wednesday on a warrant obtained by state police stemming from incidents last October in the Centerville and Bentleyville areas.
Bradley Stephen Suba, 30, of Richeyville Road, is accused of trying to withdraw $2,000 from a Centerville man’s account at the Charleroi Federal Savings Bank in Bentleyville.
Police were initially called Oct. 21 to the Old National Pike home of Raymond Yorty, who told police he found Suba in a bedroom of his home, going through drawers. Yorty told police Suba came in through an open door and no reason to be inside the house.
Yorty told police his driver’s license and debit card were stolen from his vehicle the previous day. He also stated he received a call from the bank that an attempt had been made at the bank’s drive-through window to withdraw $2,000 from his account. The teller would not give the man, who was on a motorcycle, the money because he would not remove his helmet so she could verify that it was Yorty making the transaction. Yorty also told police attempts were made to use his debit card at several automated teller machines as well as at a Bentleyville gas station.
Suba, who was still at Yorty’s house when police arrived, denied any involvement. Police obtained video surveillance from the bank that showed the suspect wearing the same jacket and helmet with the same motorcycle as Suba had when he talked with the trooper at Yorty’s residence. He also was seen on surveillance at the gas station. Police said Suba reportedly made seven attempts to use Yorty’s debit card.
Police also determined Suba had a suspended license, no insurance or inspection for the motorcycle. When police went to Suba’s home, they could not find him and later obtained the warrant.
Suba was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, identity theft, access device fraud, receiving stolen property, theft from a vehicle and several traffic violations. Weller set a $10,000 unsecured bond for Suba, who is in Washington County jail on a bench warrant. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 29.
