Rash of burglaries reported in Greene
State police are investigating a rash of burglaries, which occurred in the western part of Greene County over the past two months.
Sgt. Steve Dowlin said they received reports of a dozen burglaries in Aleppo, Jackson and Richhill townships between Nov. 1 and the end of the year.
He said there is no pattern to what time of the burglaries are happening and the “multitude” of stolen goods ranged from small household items to firearms. Most of the thefts occurred in the village of Aleppo and surrounding areas, Dowlin said. Investigators think the burglaries could be connected.
“Any time we start seeing a pattern of criminal behavior like burglaries, we start examining if it’s a pattern or if they’re interconnected with the same M.O., so to speak,” Dowlin said. “At this point in time, they definitely could be connected at this point.”
Dowlin asked for the public’s help to report any suspicious activity and to be as specific as possible when reporting vehicle descriptions or license plates.
“We definitely want the public to be aware of the burglaries that are occurring and report anything that is suspicious, whether it’s people or vehicles in the area,” Dowlin said.
He said people in that area should be vigilant and contact the state police’s Waynesburg barracks at 724-627-6151 with any information about the burglaries.
