Man arrested in North Strabane burglary
Editor’s note: All charges filed against William Warnock were later dropped.
A Pittsburgh man was arrested Thursday on charges including burglary after he and another man allegedly broke into a North Strabane Township home last month and stole several items, including five guns.
William Joseph Warnock V, 32, is accused of breaking into the home of Phillip Blake on Green Valley Road on Dec. 28.
Police were called to the residence by a neighbor who was reportedly keeping an eye on the home because Blake was out of town. The neighbor was walking to his vehicle when he saw two men, including Warnock, trying to load a large snow blower from a shed into a vehicle. When the neighbor confronted them, he made them return the snow blower and told them to leave.
The neighbor spotted a broken lock on the shed and then noticed the back door had been kicked in, police said. He called Blake and advised him of the break-in. When he returned home, Blake did an inventory of items stolen in the burglary.
A Ruger revolver, Colt handgun, Smith & Wesson revolver, semi-automatic shotgun and pump rifle were stolen along with an iPad, generator and two Stihl chain saws.
Police also have obtained a warrant for Warnock’s alleged accomplice.
Warnock was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, conspiracy and six counts of theft. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 21 before District Judge Jay Weller.
