Police beat Jan. 12
Account accessed: Kristen Seng of Bluff Street told Canonsburg police Friday her bank account was accessed without her permission, and $835 was withdrawn. She also was charged $148 in bank fees.
Contractor charged: Walter Benjamin Hixenbaugh III, 54, of 624 Sixth St., Mather, was arraigned Friday before District Judge David Mark on charges of theft by deception and deceptive business practices. State police said he ha d gone to a Laddie Drive home while working for a heating and air conditioning contractor to make repairs to the Canton couple’s air conditioning unit. Police said he offered to do the work on his own for $400, which was a lower price than what his employer proposed. The couple told police they gave him a check for $400. Hixenbaugh reportedly cashed it, but never did the work and did not contact the couple, police said. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Faces charges: Zachary S. Clutter, 33, of Old Brick Road, West Alexander, will be charged by state police with possession of marijuana after he allegedly was found with the suspected drug during a traffic stop early Thursday on the ramp to Interstate 70 westbound off Sheffield Street, Canton.
Careless driving charge: Zakkary Wright, 23, of Washington, will be charged by state police with careless driving after police said his vehicle went off Hickory Avenue near Caldwell Avenue on Sunday afternoon, hitting a guardrail and several mailboxes.
DUI, gun charges: Jeffrey Carl Schillo, 57, of 36 Henderson Drive, Canonsburg, was arrested early Saturday by Cecil police after police said he nearly struck a township police cruiser during a traffic stop at Henderson Drive and Morganza Road. Police said they spotted him driving after getting a call to remove him from his residence. Once Schillo was placed in the cruiser on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said they spotted a Ruger revolver between the driver’s seat and center console of his truck. Police said three rifles, three shotguns and a marijuana pipe also were found in the truck. Police said Schillo’s blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, loitering and prowling at night, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
Paraphernalia arrest: Dina Lynette Monk, of 1106 Lower Crest Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday by Charleroi Regional police on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia stemming from a Nov. 28 incident at her home when officers said they found empty stamp bags and needles. She was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on a $5,000 percentage bond.
Butcher shop shot: State police said three shots were fired between 9:30 p.m. Thursday and 4:30 a.m. Friday at the Fredericktown Butcher Shop, 334 Front St., East Bethlehem. The glass in the front door was damaged. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-223-5200.
Money stolen: State police said $25 to $30 was stolen Jan. 4 from 442 Strope Road, Jefferson Township. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 724-223-5200.
Assault arrest: Jessica Lynn Whoric, 29, of 202 Jefferson St., Midway, was arrested Friday night by McDonald police after she allegedly punched Vincent Dechurch on his head and upper body during a confrontation at the Jefferson Street residence. She was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of simple assault and harassment. Whoric was released on $5,000 unsecured bond.
Assault arrest: Alan Lee Buchanan, 55, of 143 Hunting Creek Road, North Strabane, was arrested Sunday by North Strabane police following a domestic dispute. Police were called to his home about 5:45 p.m. by Debra Buchanan, who told 911 dispatchers her husband was intoxicated and left in his vehicle. Police spotted the vehicle and stopped it on Weavertown Road. Debra Buchanan told police her husband threatened her Sunday after returning home and also kicked the door. He also allegedly struck her the previous day. He was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond. Police said his blood-alcohol content was almost double the 0.08 percent legal limit.
Gun stolen: Joseph Lombardi of Pioneer Trail Drive told North Strabane police Monday his .380-caliber Smith & Wesson handgun was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in his driveway over the weekend.
Theft arrest: David C. Brown, 45, of Buffalo, N.Y., was arrested Saturday by South Strabane police after he allegedly stole a wallet the previous day from a room at Motel 6, 1283 Motel 6 Drive. A woman told police she was unpacking when she noticed two men watching her. An hour after she unpacked, she discovered her wallet was gone. It contained $100 in U.S. currency and $125 in Canadian cash, along with credit cards and identification. Brown allegedly was seen on surveillance stealing the wallet. Brown told police he was returning the wallet, but police said they found the U.S. and Canadian cash on him. Brown was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of theft and receiving stolen property. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Possession charge: Timothy Q. Vanriper, 25, of Washington, will be charged by state police with possession of marijuana after he was stopped early Saturday for an equipment violation near the intersection of Oak Spring Road and Murtland Avenue, South Strabane.
Victim shot: James Fischer, 18, of East Hallam Ave., was shot in the leg early Saturday as he was walking along Allison Avenue, police said. An unknown person fired a single shot that passed through Fischer’s leg. He was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.
False ID charge: Eric Baumgartner, 35, Sewickley, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on charges of providing false identification for an incident Friday in which he was found huffing keyboard cleaner outside of Walgreen’s Pharmacy, 99 Jefferson Ave., according to court documents.
Drug charges: David William Kempf and Amanda L. Kempf, of 350 Duncan Ave., each face a charge of possession of heroin following a police response April 30, 2014, for an overdose at their residence.
Drug charges: Anthony Michael Byers, 29, of 480 Addison St., was arrested Monday on a charge of drug possession after a traffic stop and search on Tyler Avenue revealed he had 22 stamp bags and two needles containing heroin, Washington.
