• Action: The board retained the law firm of Goldfarb, Posner, Beck, DeHaven and Drewitz as county solicitor at an annual rate of $130,478, which includes a 3 percent raise. Solicitors for new row officers are attorney Peter Marcoline for Clerk of Courts Frank Scandale and attorney John E. Egers Jr., for Prothonotary Joy Schury Ranko. Coroner Timothy Warco has chosen a new solicitor, Steve Toprani, former Washington County district attorney. Row office solicitors receive $2,400 in compensation plus an allowance of $5,000 for litigation, if necessary.
• Announcement: County offices will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
• Next meeting: 10 a.m. Jan. 21 at the Courthouse Square office building.
