PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh police say a man who was found on fire in his wheelchair at home has now died.

The Pittsburgh public safety department says the man’s medical alert alarm summoned paramedics, firefighters and police to 53-year-old Marris Pritchard’s home about 3:10 p.m. Monday.

Emergency crews found Pritchard on fire in a wheelchair in the kitchen near the stove.

Pritchard was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital’s burn unit, where he died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday.

The Allegheny County medical examiner has scheduled an autopsy Wednesday.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
