Shelters at Mingo park to be replaced
Washington County’s gas and oil revenues will pay for four new shelters at Mingo Creek County Park.
The county commissioners last week approved the purchase of the replacement shelters at a cost of $116,800 from Jeffrey Associates of Indianola, Allegheny County, under a state contract that does not require bidding.
Lisa Cessna, executive director of the Washington County Planning Commission, said two shelters measure 24 by 30 feet while the others are 30 by 48-feet. All are to arrive with wood frames already stained and will be topped by metal roofs, part of a series of upgrades at the approximately 2,200-acre park in Nottingham Township.
“Right now, we’re installing rest rooms,” she said.
