A West Virginia man was killed Saturday in an accident at No. 4 West Mine, whose portal is located in Mt. Morris, Greene County.

Jeremy R. Neice, 31, of Danville, W.Va., was killed in the 6 p.m. accident at the mine owned by Mepco LLC in Morgantown, W.Va., said John Osborn, senior vice president of operations at the company.

Osborn said he would be speculating if he commented on the cause of the accident that occurred in a section of the mine in West Virginia.

He said the accident was under investigation by federal and state mining regulators.
