Anytime Fitness coming to county
WAYNESBURG – Anytime Fitness is ready to flex its muscle in Greene County.
The popular exercise franchise that offers 24/7 access to members is expected to open a new gym this spring in Morrisville.
Richie Parsons, who owns franchises in Uniontown and Bridgeport, W.Va., said he has received feedback from people who live or work in Greene County that the area desperately needs a gym that offers a wide variety of workout equipment.
“Whether it’s walking on a treadmill, working with a personal trainer or lifting weights, we’ll be a draw for them,” Parsons said.
Parsons said now was the right time to expand his franchise as SeniorCare prepares to move out of its space in the Widewaters Commons shopping plaza on Sugar Run Road.
“People always say you should open up a gym here. It seemed like a really good market and there are a lot of people and a lot of stuff there in that (shopping center) already,” Parson said of the plaza where Tractor Supply is located. “There aren’t a lot of good fitness options around for people and we want to provide that to them.”
SeniorCare is preparing this month to move into a new facility at EverGreene Technology Park near the Greene County airport. That will allow Anytime Fitness to begin remodeling the interior in early February, Parsons said.
The renovations to transform the commercial space into a gym packed with workout equipment will take six to eight weeks, Parson said. He has already ordered the machines and hopes to open the gym around April 1 “give or take a couple of weeks.”
He has spoken to several members who live in Uniontown and work out at that facility, but they suggested he also open one closer to Waynesburg where many of them work. Anytime Fitness members can work out at any of the company’s nearly 3,000 gyms across the world.
“There’s a big demand for it in Waynesburg already from the people who live and work there, and I think we’ll draw people from 10 or 15 miles around the area,” Parsons said. “I’ve had people from Carmichaels already reach out to me.”
Parsons is working right now to get final approval from Franklin Township officials.
Parson said he will be holding several pre-sale events at the new location beginning in early February that will offer “discounts and perks” for new members. Anyone interested in registering for a membership also can go to www.AnytimeFitness.com, or they can inquire about the new location by calling 724-998-9980 or sending an email to waynesburgpa@anytimefitness.com.
