Wondering who attended this ‘bored’ meeting
The blob appearing at top right is not a discoloration on the wall of this unknown room; it’s a coffee stain on the photograph we found in the Observer-Reporter’s archives. The spiller of the coffee is unknown, as are the people in the picture.
We are hoping our readers can identify who these men and women are, where they were photographed and why the presentation they were listening to was so boring.
The nun is wearing a skeptical scowl, and the woman seated next to her is either asleep or checking the time on her watch. The three women at the other table seem somewhat tortured.
The back of the photograph is dated October 1972, and “not used” is scrawled in pencil. There appears to be a portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the wall above the film projector, and at top right is a print of a painting of what could be Jefferson’s Monticello.
If you think you know what was happening in the room, where the photo was taken or who the people are, email Park Burroughs, retired executive editor, at pburroughs@observer-reporter.com, or call and leave a message for him along with your telephone number at 724-222-2200, extension 2400. With a little assistance from our readers, we may be able to solve this puzzle and publish our findings next Monday.
