CARMICHAELS – A Dunkard Township man is accused of hiding in his ex-girlfriend’s basement for more than six hours Sunday morning before attacking and threatening to kill her.

State police said Michael Shawn Oshetsky, 39, was intoxicated when he went to Anita Danko’s house in the 200 block of North Vine Street in Carmichaels about 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

Danko asked him to leave, which he appeared to do, police said, but Oshetsky somehow snuck into the basement and fell asleep on the floor by the furnace. When Oshetsky awoke shortly before 8 a.m., he went upstairs and attacked Danko while she was asleep in the living room, police said.

Police said he covered her mouth as he punched her in the face multiple times, threatened to kill her and then left with her cellphone and electronic tablet. Police said Danko was able to kick Oshetsky to stop the assault.

Danko’s lip, nose and forehead were swollen from the attack, according to court documents.

Police were continuing to search for Oshetsky, whose address is listed at 161 Presock Road, as of Monday afternoon.

Charges of terroristic threats, theft, trespassing, simple assault and harassment were filed against Oshetsky through District Judge Glenn Bates’ office Sunday night.
