PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities have identified a bicyclist fatally struck in western Pennsylvania.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office says 55-year-old Michael McDermott was killed Monday evening in the Pittsburgh suburb of Wilkinsburg. Authorities on Tuesday ruled his death was an accident.

Police have said McDermott likely wasn’t drunk nor was the driver.

Police say the 23-year-old woman who hit the Forest Hills man around 6:30 p.m. stopped at the scene and cooperated with police. Her car struck the bike while passing it on a busy boulevard.

McDermott was taken to an area hospital where he died about three hours later.

Tests results are pending on whether the victim and the driver were sober. The case will be turned over to the district attorney once those results are known.
