Gunshot victim dies after driving self to hospital

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities in Western Pennsylvania say a gunshot victim died after driving himself to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Public safety officials said the 54-year-old man drove himself to Allegheny General Hospital shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday with a gunshot wound to the

chest.

Officials said the car “struck several walls as it entered the emergency room parking area.”

The victim was in critical condition upon arrival and was pronounced dead just before 7:30 a.m. Sunday. His name hasn’t been released.

Police said it’s unclear where the man was shot. Anyone with information is being asked to call the violent crime unit.
