Peters Township School District wants to hear from the parents of its students.
And to accomplish that goal, the district started a service by which parents can directly email the school board’s education committee with questions about curriculum, policies, programs and whatever else may be on their minds.
“We have been doing a lot of work to help parents be more informed about our educational programming, and we wanted to create an additional avenue for parents to give feedback or ask questions about our courses, programs and curriculum,” said Jeannine French, district superintendent.
The email address, educationcommittee@pt-sd.org, went live at the end of June. Shelly Belcher, district spokesperson, said the email will be checked on a monthly basis. The board’s education committee is chaired by Sue Smith. Minna Allison is the vice chairperson.
“They will be the ones accessing the emails,” Belcher said.
The comments and feedback sent to the committee could be used to shape future education committee agendas and may be discussed at a public school board meeting. Belcher said specific questions about a child’s course or class work should be sent directly to the teacher or principal of the appropriate school, not the committee members.
