Buffalo Township man arrested on sexual assault charges
A Buffalo Township man was arrested Tuesday by state police on charges that he allegedly sexually assaulted a young boy and girl more than 15 years ago.
John Thomas Jones, 62, of 251 Rural Valley Road, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Ethan Ward on eight counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and two counts each of corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.
The alleged victim told police that he was about 11 years old when he and the girl were reportedly molested by Jones. He told police that he was molested at least two dozen times.
Jones reportedly sent the alleged victim text messages in April. In court documents, police indicate that the messages appear to be an apology from Jones.
Jones reportedly told state police about the alleged incidents during an interview on April 6.
Jones was released from Washington County Jail Tuesday afternoon after posting $50,000 bond. He is scheduled for a July 19 hearing before Ward.
