PITTSBURGH (AP) — The director of the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh is leaving in September to take a job with Sotheby’s in New York City.

The New York Times first reported that Eric Shiner will join the auction house’s fine-art division.

Amy Cappellazzo, who manages the division for Sotheby’s, says, “There is probably not a greater Warhol expert on the planet” than Shiner.

Shiner joined the Pittsburgh museum in 2011.

The move is to help Sotheby’s increase private sales as auction houses face increased competition to market-consigned art works and other property.
