Action: Mayor and council approved an application by the Washington City Mission for a new site plan at 84 W. Wheeling St. The mission plans to purchase a duplex it currently rents at 58 to 62 W. Wheeling St. and house administrative offices there. After last year’s fire, the mission starting using half of the duplex for its medical clinic and classrooms.
A $20,950 agreement with Skelly and Loy Engineering was approved for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit application compliance. Municipalities across the commonwealth are working to comply with state Department of Environmental Protection and the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s stormwater regulations.
A contribution of $2,000 was approved for the Pony League World Series and a resolution was approved to install four banners in the city advertising the series, to be held Aug. 5 to 10 at Lew Hays Pony Field in Washington Park.
Mayor and council approved the renewal of a commercial insurance policy with EHD at a premium cost of $145,524. Councilman Joe Manning said the cost to the city remained the same while more properties were insured, including the new Main Street Farmers Market pavilion and transit center.
