PITTSBURGH (AP) – Authorities said five people were rescued after their boat caught fire in a river in Pittsburgh.

Emergency dispatchers in Allegheny County said the blaze on the vessel was reported at about 6:15 p.m. Monday near the Fort Duquesne Bridge in the Allegheny River.

They said the five people aboard had to jump into the water to escape and were pulled to safety by other boaters. A few were reported to have minor burns.

A firetruck that stopped on the bridge poured water onto the boat and River Rescue personnel used hoses on the river to put out the flames.

The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately known.
