Hanover police make drug arrests at concert
Hanover Township police arrested several people on drug charges for possessing everything from heroin and cocaine to psychedelic mushrooms and hash butter Wednesday at the Dead & Company concert at First Niagara Pavilion.
Walter Prem Atri, 46, of Pittsburgh, was charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession and possession of paraphernalia at one of the gates to the venue.
Police spotted him as he was refusing to empty his pockets. Officer Michael Dhanse told security to deal with others waiting in line and he would handle the man, later identified as Atri. Dhanse told Atri to put his belongings on top of a trash can. Atri put some of his property on the can, including a scale.
When Dhanse asked Atri what the scale was for, the Pittsburgh man reportedly grabbed the scale, threw it in the trash and asked “What scale?”
The officer told Atri to empty his pockets. Atri reportedly turned and told the officer he would just leave. Dhanse removed items from Atri’s pockets, including 91 stamp bags of heroin, seven packages of cocaine, marijuana. Oxycodone and $1,065.
Atri was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.
Seven other people also were arraigned before Ward on drug charges.
Charles Priebe, 21, of Bay Village, Ohio, was charged with possession of LSD, escape and public drunkenness after he was found staggering near an outside gate. He reportedly fled from police. He was placed in jail on $5,000 bond.
Tighlor W. DeCanio, 25, of Baden, was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. He was released from jail after posting a $5,000 bond.
Eric M. Perzanowski, 40, of Bridgeport, Ohio, was charges with possession and possession with intent to deliver after he was found with suspected hash butter, psychedelic mushroom and marijuana in his vehicle. He was placed in jail on $1,000 bond.
Robert McClure, 32, of Lewis Center, Ohio, was charged with possession after he was reportedly found with a psychedelic mushroom while on the lawn of the venue. He was released on unsecured bond.
Nicholas Mistic, 34, Jeremy Spencer, 27, and John M. Varga, all of Columbus, Ohio, were arrested on possession charges. Mistic and Spencer were found with suspected THC oil. Varga had suspected marijuana. All three were released on unsecured bond.
All eight will have preliminary hearings before District Judge Gary Havelka.
