An Ohio man was struck and killed Saturday morning after he stopped to check his car alongside Interstate 70 in Fallowfield Township.

According to a report from Washington County Coroner Tim Warco, Osman Mohammad Bakali, 19, of Chester, was driving a car on the westbound portion of the highway between exits 35 and 36 about 9 a.m., when he thought he struck something and pulled to the side of the road to check for damage.

While he was walking around his vehicle, he was struck by a tractor-trailer driven by Glenn A. Jones, 63, of Pleasantville, N.J., traveling westbound.

Bakali was pronounced dead from multiple injuries at 10:12 a.m.

The accident halted westbound traffic for several hours.

State police are continuing their investigation. Police were assisted at the scene by Mon Valley EMS, Weld’s Towing, Fallowfield Rescue and state police forensics and reconstruction units.
