Feds qualify Fayette County for aid from severe flooding
HARRISBURG (AP) – A southwestern Pennsylvania county has been designated a disaster area by the U.S. Small Business Administration following recent storms and severe weather in the area.
Gov. Tom Wolf on Wednesday announced Fayette County received the designation after flooding caused significant damage to homes and businesses on June 17.
Residents there and people in the neighboring counties of Greene, Somerset, Washington and Westmoreland counties may be eligible for low-interest disaster loans.
The loan money can be used to repair or replace personal property. It can also be used to restore damaged or destroyed buildings, inventory, equipment and assets.
A disaster loan outreach center has been set up at the Uniontown Fire Department.
