Police beat July 24
Man charged: Kenneth Otto Weiderhold, 42, whose last known address was Atlanta, Ga., was charged Thursday afternoon by McDonald police with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he was found lying on the ground by a bench at Burgettstown Community Park. A witness told police he was argumentative with children and adults. Police received a complaint the previous night he was camping in a wooded area off Shady Avenue without permission of the property owner.
Two charged: Two Washington men were charged Friday by state police in connection with a July 13 incident at 83 Hawkins St., Canton. James Riley May IV is accused of crashing into a vehicle occupied by 83-year-old William H. Manning. Manning is accused of pointing a gun at May, but police said no weapon was found. May is charged with simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment, careless driving, reckless driving and driving without a license. Manning is charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
One injured: Kama Ross, 18, of Zelienople, was slightly injured Wednesday when her vehicle crashed into the rear of a vehicle driven by Megan DeLaTorre, 30, of Oakdale, abut 5:40 p.m. on Interstate 79 southbound near the Canonsburg exit, North Strabane. Ross was charged by state police with following too closely and careless driving.
Game player: McDonald police were called about 12:40 a.m. Thursday for a report of people running around the Midway Borough Building, 304 Noblestown Road. When they arrived, police found a 28-year-old McDonald woman who told them she and her friends were playing Pokemon. Police said they saw several groups out playing Pokemon Go in Midway and McDonald.
Pipe damaged: State police said a water pipe owned by Consol Energy was damaged July 5 near 55 Cracraft Road, South Franklin. Keys were also stolen from drilling equipment. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-223-5200.
