A Greene County veterinarian raised $1,600 for animals displaced by last month’s devastating flooding in West Virginia.

Anita McMillen, the veterinarian who runs Braden Run Animal Hospital at 216 Braden Run Road in Franklin Township, held a vaccination clinic July 16 to raise money for the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association in West Virginia.

The association, at its own cost, vaccinated and treated lost animals and is trying to reunite them with their owners.

McMillen said while they did not have a large turnout for vaccines, the raffling off of items and other donations helped to raise the money.

“We’ve made several contacts with folks who plan to still forward donations as well,” she said.

People can still mail donations directly to Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association at 1248 Greenbrier St., Charleston, WV 25311.
