Police beat July 27
Pole hit: James Zaremko, 18, of 1009 Second St., Canonsburg, escaped injury Monday when his vehicle struck a utility pole at the intersection of Second and Adams Avenue. He told police he swerved to avoid a dog that had run in front of his vehicle.
Vehicles damaged: Two vehicles were reported damaged near Town Park Monday. David Derrico of 200 Spruce St. told police the rear window of his vehicle was broken. Donald Coleman of 303 Belmont Ave. reported his rear window broken and four tires slashed on his vehicle.
Warrant arrest: Joy Rinchetti, 43, of 110 Central Ave., Belle Vernon, was taken into custody Friday by Charleroi Regional police on a Washington County probation bench warrant after she was spotted walking in the 700 block of Fallowfield Avenue. She was placed in Washington County jail.
Two taken into custody: Brittany Bujanowski, 28, of 401 Fifth St. Charleroi, and Stephen Greyshock, 47, of 576 Park Way, Monongahela, were taken into custody early Saturday by Charleroi Regional police on outstanding bench warrants. Police received complaints they were asking customers for money at the Sunoco. Both were placed in Washington County jail.
Theft arrest: Angelina Gates, 28, of 118 Luella Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday by Charleroi Regional police on charges of retail theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass after officers were called to Dollar General for a shoplifting report. After taking Gates into custody, officers said they found a cut straw with white residue in her purse. Gates also was advised she is not permitted in Dollar General because of previous thefts. She was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Warrant arrest: Brandon Dezardo, 33, of 828 Crest Ave., Charleroi, was taken into custody Saturday on a warrant obtained by Monongahela police on charges of retail theft and conspiracy. He was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond.
Weapons violations alleged: George Paxon Jr., 37, of 1245 Fourth St., Monongahela, and William G. Gilmer, 67, of 222 Hoffman St., Washington Township, are charged by city police with illegal sale or transfer of a firearm and unsworn falsification, court records show. Paxon is accused of misrepresenting his criminal background while attempting to purchase a weapon Feb. 2 from Valley Arms, 306 E. Main St. Gilmer allegedly did the same thing Feb. 26 at the same store. District Judge Mark Wilson signed arrest warrants in the cases Tuesday.
Weed trimmer stolen: Tamara L. Taylor, 22, of Monongahela, and Cody T. Guenther, 30, of New Eagle are charged by Monongahela police with conspiracy and receiving stolen property, court records show. Taylor also is charged with theft in the case that involves a weed trimmer that was stolen about noon May 9 from the 500 block of Memorial Avenue. Guenther also is charged with false reports to police over allegations he told police he drove a different woman to the residence to steal the trimmer. District Judge Mark Wilson issued warrants for their arrests Monday.
Man jailed: Robert R. Sypolt, 24, of 124 Sixth Ave., New Eagle, is charged by Monongahela police with possessing two stamp bags of heroin and two Suboxone doses stemming from a traffic stop about 12:10 p.m. Saturday at Memorial and Main streets, court records show. Sypolt is in Washington County jail on a parole violation and $5,000 bond set Monday by District Judge Mark Wilson.
Assault alleged: Gabriel T. Nowak, 33, of 4404 Finleyville-Elrama Road, Union Township, is charged by Monongahela police with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct over accusations he threw gravel into the face of Jesse R. Garshak about 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the New Eagle Boat Club, 137 Main St., court records show. District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges in a summons Monday.
