‘Sprout Up with 4-H Day Camp’ begins this month at Ryerson
Greene County children ages 8 to 12 can participate in the “Sprout Up with 4-H Day Camp” this month.
The camp begins at 8 a.m. June 29 in the 4-H building at Greene County Fairgrounds with registration and mixers before the participants board a bus to Ryerson Station State Park to learn the value and importance of trees.
State forester Russell Gibbs, Ryerson Station Park Ranger Alan Johnson and Thistle Tree Farm owner Gay Thistle will lead the learning sessions.
Campers can participate in crafts, a scavenger hunt and games before returning to the fairgrounds. Each camper will receive a pine seedling to take home to plant.
The cost is $15 per person and includes bus transportation, lunch and a camp T-shirt. Space is limited to 40 campers and reservations must be made at Penn State Extension’s Greene County office by Friday, June 10 for campers to receive a shirt. Checks should be made payable to Extension Special Fund.
