Burgettstown holds commencement exercises
Burgettstown High School graduated 86 seniors at commencement exercises at 7 p.m. June 2 at First Niagara Pavilion.
Liam Walsh was the valedictorian and and Autumn Gianfrancesco was the salutatorian.
Walsh is a son of Paul and Teresa Walsh of Burgettstown.
He received the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association Award, Walter Michael Budash Memorial Award, Megan J. Phillis Scholarship and the Jeanne Hanna Scholarship.
Walsh was the senior class president, Student Council president, a member of National Honor Society leadership council, a trial attorney on the Mock Trial team and the stage manager of the school’s musical.
He will attend Carnegie Mellon University to pursue a degree in computational finance.
Gianfrancesco is a daughter of Pete and Michele Gianfrancesco of Burgettstown.
She received the Leaders of Tomorrow Award, Petrucci Fund Scholarship, Mahoney Scholarship, and the volleyball award at the high school senior awards.
Gianfrancesco was a member of National Honor Society, captain of the varsity volleyball team, and a member of the Helping Other People Everyday Club and the Prom Committee.
She will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in physician assistant studies.
