Driver, three others hurt in crash that killed passenger

INDIANA (AP) – State police are continuing to investigate a crash that severely injured the driver, killed one passenger and hurt three others.

State police say 21-year-old Luke White was killed when a car driven by his friend, 21-year-old Matthew Pommer, hit a tree after railing to round a curve about 3:45 a.m. Sunday. The crash happened on Saltsburg Road in Conemaugh Township, which is near the men’s hometown of Saltsburg.

Police say Pommer suffered major injuries and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

Two passengers walked away with moderate injuries and were found by emergency crews in some nearby woods. Another injured passenger, 20-year-old Ian South, of New Alexandria, was thrown from car and also flown to UPMC Presbyterian.

Police expect him and Pommer to survive.
