McGuffey graduates 147 seniors
McGuffey High School graduated 147 seniors during commencement ceremonies Friday at the high school gymnasium.
The speakers – on the topic of “How do I make a difference?” – were Kelsey Marie Nolin, James Dylan (JD) Sims and Chelsea Travis.
Nolin is the daughter of Douglas and Marlene Nolin of Claysville.
She received the Covenant Scholarship of Wooster, Pennsylvania Envirothon County Scholarship, Wooster College Scholar Award and TriStar Award.
She participated in marching and concert band and was a member of National Honor Society and soccer and track and field teams.
Nolin plans to attend College of Wooster.
Sims is the son of James and Loren Sims of Claysville.
He received the TriStar Award and was a member of National Honor Society and French Honor Society.
Sims was senior class president, vice president of French Club and a member of Drama Club, marching, concert and jazz bands and was on the tennis team.
He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in political science and French.
Travis is the daughter of Gary and Mindy Travis of West Finley.
She received the Washington Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship, Kiwanis Club Scholarship, Washington Rotary Club Academic Scholarship, Clyde J. Tracanna Scholarship, Scholastic Art and Writing Silver Key Award, TriStar Award, Spanish Excellence Award and Nathan P. Kennedy Scholarship.
She was a member of National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Teen Action, Library Club, Spanish Honor Society, Math Team and Peer Jury.
She plans to attend Ohio Northern University to major in pharmacy.
