RIDGWAY (AP) – The aunt and uncle of a 5-year-old Pennsylvania boy found beaten to death in their squalid apartment are set for a hearing to determine whether they’ll stand trial.

Elk County authorities say O’Ryan Murphy had been living with the couple in their Ridgway apartment with little to no heat since December. The boy was found beaten to death the morning of Feb. 3.

Thirty-five-year-old Kristy Murphy and 25-year-old Scott Murphy are charged with criminal homicide.

The boy’s parents, 26-year-old Daniel Murphy and 23-year-old Ashlee Druhot have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and endangerment for leaving the boy with the Murphys and not checking on him, despite allegedly knowing the other couple used drugs and had violent tendencies.

The suspects have all pleaded not guilty in advance of Wednesday’s hearing.
