Chartiers-Houston High School will graduate 70 seniors at commencement exercises at 7 p.m. Friday.

Liang Jiang Xue is the valedictorian, Robert James Behary is the salutatorian and Marissa Ransil is the honor graduate.

Xue is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Yishuang Xue of Houston.

He received the 2014 and 2015 STEM Excellence Award, took second place in the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science 2014 and 2015 and third place in 2016. He was also Mr. Chartiers-Houston 2016.

Xue was a member of the National Honor Society, the Leo Club, Student Government, The Future is Mine, and was captain of the Academic League team, president of the Mathletes and class president. He was also a member of the varsity basketball team.

He will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

Behary is a son of Rob and Cindy Behary of Meadow Lands.

He was president of the National Honor Society and a member of the Mathletes. He also was a Trinity hockey player for 6 years.

Behary will attend Duquesne University to pursue a degree in physics and engineering in the binary engineering program.

Ransil is a daughter of Gary Ransil of Canonsburg and Cynthia Ransil of Venetia.

She received the Bucks for Bucs Scholarship and a number of Kent State University scholarships including the Honors, Trustee and President’s scholarships and the University Award.

Ransil was a member of the National Honor Society and Mathletes, secretary of the Senior High Chorus, treasurer of the musical and a writer for the school newspaper.

She will attend Kent State University to pursue a degree in visual communications design.
