PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh’s public safety officials will be spelling out their plans to deal with a possible Stanley Cup championship celebration.

They’ll hold a news conference Wednesday afternoon to discuss how police will deploy if the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the San Jose Sharks Thursday night to win the cup.

No major Pittsburgh sports team has clinched a championship at home since the Pittsburgh Pirates won the 1960 World Series.

The Pirates’ World Series wins in 1971 and 1979 came on the road in Baltimore, and, of course, all six of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Super Bowl wins have come at neutral-site games out of town.

The Penguins have won the cup three times before – in 1991, 1992 and 2009 – but clinched those in Minneapolis, Chicago and Detroit.
