Washington High School to graduate 94
Washington High School will graduate 94 seniors at commencement exercises at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Wash High gymnasium.
Austin Ryan Sperl is the valedictorian and Megan Grace McGill is salutatorian.
Sperl is a son of Mark and Michelle Sperl of Washington.
He received the Superintendent’s National Honor Society Service Award and the John Philip Sousa Award for superior musicianship, dependability, loyalty and cooperation. He also received the Ferro National Merit Scholarship, Rotary Club Academic Excellence Scholarship, David Johnston Track Scholarship, Washington Financial Charitable Foundation Scholarship, “Time to Be First” Scholarship, Spirit of Alex Scholarship and Washington Lions Club Scholarship.
Sperl was the president of the National Honor Society and the saxophone section leader for the marching, jazz and concert bands. He also was the captain of the cross country and track teams.
He will attend the Pennsylvania State University at University Park to pursue a degree in engineering.
McGill is a daughter of James and Nancy McGill of East Washington.
She received the University of Pittsburgh Academic Scholarship, Ohio University Academic Scholarship and the Challenge Program STEM Award.
McGill was a member of the National Honor Society, Prexie Performers and the marching, concert and jazz bands. She was also a member of the cross country team.
She will attend the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a degree in mathematics.
