Quilt show to benefit food pantry
More than 100 locally handcrafted quilts will be on display today and Saturday in a show that benefits food banks in Monongalia County, W.Va.
The fourth annual Celebration of Quilts, presented by Country Roads Quilt Shop, will be held in Seneca Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday. The quilts will be displayed in the shop and the center, 709 Beechurst Ave., Morgantown.
“We hang over 100 quilts in the Seneca Center, and they’re all made by local quilters,” said organizer Peggy Ellwood. “We’ll also have a raffle quilt and donated quilted table runners.”
The quilt artists are from Monongalia County, the Fairmont area and Waynesburg, among other areas in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Visitors to the show are asked to bring items to contribute to a canned food drive for the local food pantry. There also will be a quilt raffle that will raise money for a backpack program that provides food for local children on the weekends.
