CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – West Virginia won’t require anglers to first buy a license before they go fishing this weekend.

During the state Division of Natural Resources’ Free Fishing Weekend, residents and nonresidents won’t need a license to fish today and Sunday.

Several events are also planned.

The Bowden Fishing Derby will take place today at Bowden Hatchery in Randolph County, as will another fishing event at Little Beaver State Park near Beckley.

The division has been stocking catfish to catch in lakes at Cacapon, Cedar Creek, Chief Logan, Little Beaver, Pipestem, Tomlinson Run and Watoga state parks.
