Two Peters Township girls injured in bicycle-car accident
Two 12-year-old Peters Township girls were taken by medical helicopter to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh after being struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon at the intersection of Gatehead Drive and North Heidi Lane in McMurray, Peters Township police said.
Deputy Chief Douglas Grimes said the girls are expected to recover from their injuries.
According to police reports, the girls were riding one bicycle on North Heidi Lane when they went through a stop sign and into the path of a vehicle driven by Steven Levey, 57, of McMurray. Grimes said Levey was not at fault. The two girls were cautioned by a neighbor earlier in the day to be careful while riding the bicycle, he said.
