Beth-Center proposes three-mill tax increase
Bethlehem-Center School Board is proposing a three-mill real estate tax increase to balance the district’s upcoming $19 million spending plan.
District business manager Jody Nepa said the tax increase is needed to meet rising pension and health-care costs.
The tentative 2016-17 spending plan earmarks $11.5 million for instruction and $6.7 million for support services, district records show.
The three mills, if adopted, will generate $90,000 in revenues for Beth-Center, Nepa said. He said the tax increase would add three dollars per every $1,000 dollars of assessed value.
Nepa said the budget is expected to be adopted June 27.
