Authorities: Man rescued after driving vehicle into river
PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say a man had to be rescued from a vehicle that he drove into a Pittsburgh river.
Authorities say river rescue crews were called to the Allegheny River Thursday afternoon and broke the driver’s side window of the car. Crews then cut the seat belt off the unresponsive man and pulled him from the car.
Officials say emergency crews tried to revive him as they took him to a hospital. His condition hasn’t been released. Police say he is alive.
The car ended up on its roof and was pulled out hours later. It’s unclear why the man drove into the river.
An investigation is underway.
